Terms of Service
The agreement between you and Hash Marks when you create an account or use the app.
Last updated: October 30, 2026
The short version
- Accounts are for adults: parents, guardians and coaches. Players don't have accounts.
- Your data is yours. Only add players you're responsible for or have permission to track.
- Stats are recorded by you, from the stands. They aren't official league statistics.
- Hash Marks is free until March 31, 2027. Nothing is ever charged unless you choose to buy.
- Keep notes respectful, don't try to break in, and don't share your sign-up code publicly.
Agreeing to these terms
Hash Marks Hockey ("Hash Marks", "we") is run by Hash Marks Hockey Inc., in Alberta, Canada. By creating an account or using the app, you agree to these terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you don't agree, please don't use Hash Marks.
Your account
- Who can sign up. You must be 18 or older, or the age of majority where you live, to create an account. Players don't have accounts and shouldn't use the app themselves.
- Sign-up codes and invitations. For now, you need a sign-up code or an invitation to join. A code is shared with a group of families; please don't post it publicly or sell it. We can turn a code off or end it at any time. Accounts already made with it keep working.
- Keep it accurate. Use an email address you check. It's how you log in and reset your password.
- Keep it safe. Choose a password you don't use anywhere else, and don't share your login. You're responsible for what happens in your account. Tell us right away at support@hashmarkshockey.com if you think someone else has used it.
- One account per family is plenty: an account can track several players.
Free trial and pricing
Every account is on a free trial until March 31, 2027. We plan to offer a paid Season Pass after that. Before anything is charged, we'll tell you the price and what's included, and you'll choose whether to buy. Nothing is charged automatically, and we don't ask for payment details during the trial.
If you decide not to buy, we won't delete your data because of it. We'll tell you in advance what changes for accounts without a Season Pass.
Your data
- It's yours. You own the players, teams, games, stats and notes you enter. You give us permission to store, copy and process them only as needed to run Hash Marks for you (saving, syncing, backups, support), as our Privacy Policy explains.
- You have the right to enter it. By adding a player, you confirm you're their parent or guardian, or have their parent or guardian's permission.
- Keep your own copy. We work hard to keep your data safe, but use Backup in Settings › Your data now and then, especially before a new season.
- What you share is up to you. PDF reports, Game Cards and backup files go wherever you send them.
About the stats
Stats in Hash Marks are recorded by users, usually from the stands. They aren't official league statistics and may differ from the official game sheet. How accurate they are depends on the person tracking.
Hash Marks isn't affiliated with, or endorsed by, any team, league or hockey association. Use the numbers as one tool for a player's development. We can't promise any outcome, like making a team, a tryout result or a scout's interest.
Fair use
When you use Hash Marks, please don't:
- add players you don't have permission to track, or pretend to be someone else;
- write notes that are abusive, harassing or discriminatory, or that share private details about anyone, including other players, families, coaches or officials;
- use the app for anything illegal;
- try to get into other accounts or our systems, test for weaknesses, or get around sign-up codes or data limits;
- copy the app's data or pages with automated tools, overload the service, or make accounts automatically;
- sell, rent or resell access to Hash Marks or the data in it.
If an account breaks these rules, we may turn it off. Where it's reasonable, we'll tell you first and give you a chance to fix it.
Data limits
To keep Hash Marks fast and fair, each account has limits on how many players, teams, games and game entries it can hold, and how many games one calendar import can add. They're set well above what a family normally needs, and the app tells you when you reach one. The current limits are in the Help guide.
We may change the limits from time to time, for everyone or for one account. Lowering a limit never removes anything you already have. Need more? Email support@hashmarkshockey.com.
The service
- Hash Marks is new and keeps improving. We may add, change or remove features. For changes that matter, we'll tell you ahead of time.
- The app saves to your device first and syncs when it has a connection. We aim to keep it running smoothly, but we can't promise it will always be available or free of errors.
- The Hash Marks name, logo, app and website belong to us. Please don't copy them or use them as your own.
Ending your account
You can stop using Hash Marks at any time. To delete your account and its data, email support@hashmarkshockey.com from the email address on the account (see Keeping and deleting). We may close Hash Marks or an account with notice; if we close the whole service, we'll give you at least 30 days to download a backup.
What we can and can't promise
Hash Marks is provided "as is". As far as the law allows, we don't give any promise beyond those written in these terms, and we're not responsible for indirect losses, such as lost data you didn't back up, missed opportunities, or decisions made from the stats.
As far as the law allows, our total responsibility to you for any claim is limited to CAD $50.
Nothing in these terms takes away rights you have under consumer protection laws that can't be waived.
Changes to these terms
When these terms change, we'll update the date at the top. For important changes, we'll tell you by email or in the app before they take effect. If you keep using Hash Marks after that, the new terms apply.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of Alberta and the federal laws of Canada that apply there. Any dispute goes to the courts of Alberta, unless the law where you live gives you the right to use your local courts.
